I know if you'll be SUCCESSFUL or NOT

Want to know a secret? I've talked to and coached hundreds of people on their fitness and nutrition and I know within the first 30 seconds of talking to you if you're going to be successful or not.
It doesn't even matter what your goal is. This isn't just a theory of mine either. It has been validated over and over again.
- Before we begin I want your permission to be your temporary coach for the duration of this blog. In order to do that I need to be honest, and maybe for some a little too honest. I may only get one chance to make a difference in your life so my goal is for it to be memorable. Friends and family are good for fluff and support. Coaches are here to be honest and do what they can to get you results, period. If this isn't something you're okay with I've got some other cool stuff on this blog for you to check out and I recommend you do that now. -
Before I let you in on my secret it's important that I share with you my simple solution to getting healthy and making progress (not perfection) during your health journey.
After speaking with and coaching hundreds of people the same questions always come up.
"What workout should I do" or "Which workout is best" or "What meal plan should I follow." The truth is, assuming you're not already on a fitness and nutrition, it's doesn't matter.
You see I believe that most things in life follow certain progressions and fitness and nutrition is no exception. I also believe that most people have enough fitness and nutritional knowledge already to get to where they want to be. What they lack is the habit and typically a bit of humility to admit they need help. They unfortunately have more OFF days then ON days which over time creates a 70% American obesity rate.
If proper habits and mindsets aren't developed it doesn't matter what exercise routine or meal plan you own. You have to know how to do the work. Then and only then, once habits are formed can we begin to tweak and discuss more specific fitness and nutritional plans.
I believe that "knowledge itself is useless. Knowledge combined with action can move mountains."
So back to where I first started, still want to know my secret?
It's all in how you talk to me, which is actuality is how you're talking to yourself. When I ask you about your struggles or what your current fitness and nutrition routine looks like I'm scanning the conversation for keywords. To be honest the information you're giving me I'm not really focusing on. What matters is how you describe your goals and what you're currently doing, or not doing.
Are you blaming outside circumstances? This is the most common. On some level I'm sure we all do this but I'm sitting back rating in my mind your 'blame game.' Are you constantly talking about not having any time, not knowing what to do or not having any money. These keywords lead to failure.
What phase of the process are you in? Are you still talking about your want's but not taking any action? You might be telling me you want this or you want that. Or you have an idea for this or for that. These keywords also lead to failure.
You see successful people, or future successful people approach all these obstacles with a different mindset. They are willing to take full blame for their current situation and are ready to take actions to make changes. They realize that their current health is their fault and ONLY their fault (medical issues aside).
Even more successful people are willing to communicate their failures and share them openly.
Successful people also tend to use phrases like "I'm trying this" or "I'm doing this." When advice is offered they take action immediately. They realize that they obviously don't know as much as they might think they do and are willing to listen.
So which one are you going to be: Successful or Unsuccessful?
If you've made it this far in this blog you now have two options. Believe, or at least consider, what I'm saying to be true and work to make course corrections in your own life. Ask for advice on how to change then follow it.***
Or you can blow the entire thing off, continue to allow your "best thinking" to guide your path and see where it leads you.
Either way I wish you the best of luck.
***NOTE: Make sure to listen to and take advice from people who's situation you'd be willing to trade places with. If you're overweight and you're taking advice on weight loss from someone who is also overweight then guess what, that's probably not the way to go. Sure they may understand your struggles and for support they may be great, but as for advice, your attention needs to be turned to people living a healthy lifestyle.
